Veebolt respects your privacy and takes its responsibilities with regard to the management of personal data seriously. We do not take lightly the trust you have reposed in us, in providing us with your personal information. Veebolt reserves the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason. You will immediately be notified about any changes and all changes will be effective immediately unless otherwise specified.

1.             INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We require certain information from you to provide our services to you. We have stated below the information that we may collect in the course of your use of our platform.

Account Registration Information: To use our services, you are required to create an account with our platform. Basic personal information that you must provide us with include a display name, a username (e.g @veebolt), a password, and an email address or phone number. On our platform, your username and display name are always public.

Public Information: Information such as your profile information, date your account was created, your posts and other information about your post such as the date and time the post was made are public. You may also choose to include your location on your profile which will be made public. The people you follow and who follow you, and posts you Like or share are also public. If you like, share, reply, or otherwise publicly engage with an ad on our services, that advertiser might learn information about you associated with the ad with which you engaged such as characteristics of the audience the ad was intended to reach. Information posted about you by other people who use our services may also be public. E.g, you may be tagged by other users of the platform in a photo (if your settings allow) or mentioned you in a post. You are responsible for your posts and other information you choose to provide through our services, and you should ensure that you are absolutely certain of the information you choose to make public on our platform, especially if it is sensitive information. If you update your public information on our platform, such as by deleting a post or deactivating your account, we will reflect your updated content on our platform. By publicly posting content when you post on our platform, you are directing us to disclose that information as broadly as possible, including through our specialized systems, and directing those accessing the information through our specialized systems to do the same.

Contact Information and Address Books: We also collect your contact information, i.e. your email address or phone number which we use to authenticate your account and keep it secure. We also apply it to help prevent fraud, spam or other forms of abuse of your account. The contact information you provide is also used to send you information about our services, applied towards personalizing the services we offer you including adverts, and marketing to you subject the laws of your country. By providing your phone number, you agree to receive text messages from our platform subject to the laws of your country.  Other users of our platform may also find you using your contact information through our platform and other third-party services and applications. You may also choose to sync your contact book on your phone with our platform which we can use to help you find and connect with your contacts on our platform.

Private Messages: We also provide features that allow you to engage in private communications with other users of our platform away from the prying eyes of the public. We store the content of your private communications with other users of the platform. The information about who you communicate with may be used to protect the integrity and safety of our platform, and to provide you with more streamlined content. Before privately communicating with a user on our platform, always remember that the recipients of such private communication have a copy of the private communication which they may duplicate, store or reshare. Private messages that are shared by either you or the recipient of the communication will be treated as public information and used as such.

Payment Information: In the course of your use of our platform, you may need to complete certain purchases or payments for some of our service offerings. To complete these payments, you may provide us with payment information such as your credit or debit card number, card expiration date, CCV code and billing address. We use these details to approve transaction approved by you.

2.             HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We have provided below explanations for the uses we apply user information to.

Provision of Personalized and Improved Products and Services: The information we collect from you are applied towards setting up your account (account registration information) and delivering personalized and relevant services to you. Information such as your personal information, public information and location data that you provide towards creating and directing services and products that are tailored towards you such as personalized ads, offers and other sponsored content that we show you. We also use the information to develop, test and improve our service offerings.

Promoting safety, integrity and security: The information you provide is used to verify your accounts and activity, eliminate harmful conduct and detect spam. We also apply the information towards maintaining the integrity, safety and security on our platform by carrying out actions such as investigating suspicious activity or violations of our terms and conditions, and to ensure that our platform is used only for legal activities.

Provisions of measurement, analytics and other business services: We apply some of the information we collect from you such as your interaction with sponsored content and ads to help advertisers and other partners weigh the effectiveness of their ads and services and understand how different groups of people interact with their services on our platform.

Research and Innovation: We also the information we collect to conduct and support research, development and innovation efforts on various topics of interest.

Communicating with you: We use the information we collect from you, such as your contact information, to send you marketing communications, communicate with you about our service offerings, and let you know about our policies and terms. We also use your information to respond to you when you contact us.

3.             LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING YOUR PERSONAL DATA

We rely on the following legal grounds to process the information we collect from you in the manner and for the purposes stated in Section 2 above:

  1. Contract: We rely on the need to perform contracts to which you are a party or the requirement to take steps, at your request, prior to entering into a contract to process your data. We place reliance on contract when processing your data in order provide you with our service offerings including maintaining your account and profile information and allowing posts on our platform.
  2. Legal Obligation: We may also rely on the need to comply with a legal obligation to which we/you are subject in processing your data.
  • Legitimate interests: We may use your information where we have legitimate interests to do so. Instances for this may include where we analyse users’ behaviour on our platform to continuously improve our service offerings, when we process your information for administrative, fraud detection and other legal purposes, and in suggesting offers that might interest you.
  1. Vital Interests: We may also have need to process your personal data where it is necessary to protect your vital interests or that of another natural person.
  2. Public interests: We may also process your information when it is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official public mandate vested in us.
  3. Consent: From time to time, we may require your consent to process your information for certain specific reasons. Such consent if granted may be withdrawn at any time by contacting us at the address provided at Section 12 of this Privacy Policy. If we intend to use your data for a purpose which is different from the purpose for which your data was obtained, we will seek your consent prior to the use of your data for that other purpose.

You may withdraw your consent at any time and may request access to your personal information in our possession. We can, however, deny you access to the information where we determine that your request is unreasonable. Where Veebolt has reasonable doubts concerning the identity of the person making the request for information, Veebolt reserves the right to request additional information necessary to confirm the identity of the person making the request.

4.             SHARING USER INFORMATION 

We are committed to keeping user data confidential and handling it safely. We may however share certain user data in some instances. One of the primary groups that we share users’ information with is with other users given the nature of services we provide. We also share some users’ information with service providers and partners who assist us in operating the services, and, in some cases, legal authorities. Details of how your information is shared with others is provided below.

With other users: You share information with other users when you voluntarily disclose information on the service (including your public profile). You should be careful with your information and make sure that the content you share is stuff that you’re comfortable being publicly viewable since neither you nor we can control what others do with your information once you share it.

You may use certain settings on our platform to limit the audience that can view all or part of your profile or certain content that you post.

With our service providers and partners: We use third parties to help us operate and improve our services. These third parties assist us with various tasks, including data hosting and maintenance, analytics, customer care, marketing, advertising, payment processing and security operations.

We may also share information with partners who distribute and assist us in advertising our services. We follow a strict vetting process prior to engaging any service provider or working with any partner. All of our service providers and partners are required to agree to strict confidentiality obligations.

For corporate transactions: We may transfer your information if we are involved, whether in whole or in part, in a merger, sale, acquisition, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, bankruptcy or other change of ownership or control.

When required by law: We may disclose your information if reasonably necessary:

  • to comply with a legal process, such as a court order, subpoena or search warrant, government/law enforcement investigation or other legal requirements;
  • to assist in the prevention or detection of crime (subject in each case to applicable law); or
  • to protect the safety of any person.

To enforce legal rights: We may also share information in the following circumstances:

  • where disclosure would mitigate our liability in an actual or threatened lawsuit;
  • where it is necessary to protect our legal rights and legal rights of our users, business partners or other interested parties;
  • in order to enforce our agreements with you; and
  • where it is needed to investigate, prevent, or take other action regarding illegal activity, suspected fraud or other wrongdoing.

Your consent or at your instance: We may ask for your consent to share your information with third parties. In any such case, we will make it clear why we want to share the information.

We may use and share non-personal information (meaning information that, by itself, does not identify who you are such as device information, general demographics, general behavioral data, geolocation in de-identified form), as well as personal information in hashed, non-human readable form, under any of the above circumstances. We may also share this information with third parties (notably advertisers) to develop and deliver targeted advertising on our services and on websites or applications of third parties, and to analyze and report on advertising you see. We may combine this information with additional non-personal information or personal information in hashed, non-human readable form collected from other sources.

Veebolt will not be held responsible for the failure of the third party to honor the commitments made in this Privacy Policy, and we will not be held responsible for the actions of the third parties with whom you have shared your personal data.

5.             DATA TRANSFERS ACROSS JURISDICTIONS

In sharing the information as set out in Section 4, we may have to transfer data across borders to other jurisdictions. In doing so, we will ensure that we use standard contract clauses approved by the relevant jurisdictional bodies, if any, or apply appropriate safeguards to enable data transfers between these jurisdictions. These standard clauses and safeguards create binding commitments between entities transferring your personal data for the protection of the privacy and security of your data.

6.             SECURING YOUR PERSONAL DATA

Veebolt implements and maintains appropriate safeguards to protect personal data taking into account in particular the risks to you presented by unauthorised or unlawful processing or accidental loss, destruction of, or damage to your personal data.

Safeguarding will include the use of encryption, pseudonymisation and other data security measures where appropriate. It also includes protecting the confidentiality (by ensuring that only those who need to know and are authorised to use personal data have access to it), integrity and availability of the personal data. We regularly evaluate and test the effectiveness of those safeguards to ensure the security of our processing of personal data.

It is however important for you to note that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we put in our best efforts to protect the security of your personal information and are constantly reviewing and enhancing our information security measures, we cannot guarantee absolute security. Veebolt, therefore, accepts no liability for any damage or loss, however caused, in connection with transmission over the Internet or electronic storage.

7.             DATA RETENTION PERIOD

We retain your personal information only as long as we need it for the legitimate business purposes as stated in Section 2 and as permitted by applicable law. To protect the safety and security of our users on and off our services, we may implement a safety retention window in which we may keep your data following account deletion. During this period, account information will be retained although the account will not be visible on our services anymore.

We delete or hide your information upon deletion of your account (following the safety retention window) or after sustained period of continuous inactivity. We, however may refuse to delete or hide some of your information from our services where:

  1. we are required to keep it to comply with applicable law;
  2. we have to keep it to show our compliance with applicable law;
  • there is an outstanding issue, claim or dispute requiring us to keep the relevant information until it is resolved; or
  1. the information must be kept for our legitimate business interests, such as fraud prevention and enhancing users' safety and security. For example, information may need to be kept to prevent a user who was banned for unsafe behavior or security incidents from opening a new account.

Although we are committed to carry out data deletion in accordance with the guidelines above, technical constraints may hinder us from deleting all the data as required of us within a specific time frame.

8.             YOUR RIGHTS IN RELATION TO YOUR DATA

By registering with our platform, we provide you with some rights to access and control personal data and public information posted by you on our platform. These rights are stated below.

Modifying personal data: By becoming a registered user on our platform, we provide you with tools to access, update or delete personal data you provided to us and associated with your account.

Device permissions: Our mobile platforms may require that you activate certain permission options such as camera, microphone, phonebook as well as location services and push notifications for proper use of our platform. These settings can be changed on your device to either consent or oppose the collection of the specific information or display of the specific notifications. Where you choose not to enable some permission options, certain services offered on our platform may not be available to you.

Deletion of account: You can also choose to delete your account with us. By doing so, your personal data and other public information posted by you on our platform will be erased and your account will stop being visible to other users of our platform. Bear in mind that public information posted by you may still be retained by third parties with whom they have been shared. Private messages will also be retained by their recipients unless deleted by them.

 

9.             VIOLATION OF PRIVACY

We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you of any personal data breach and let you know the steps we have taken to remedy the breach and the security measures we have applied to render your personal data unintelligible. All suspected breach of personal data will be remedied with 1 (one) month from the date of the report  of the breach. If you know or suspect that a personal data breach has occurred, you should immediately contact via the email address provided in Section 12.

Veebolt will not be responsible for any personal data breach which occurs as a result of:

  1. an event which is beyond the control of Veebolt;
  2. an act or threats of terrorism;
  3. an act of God (such as, but not limited to fires, explosions, earthquakes, drought, tidal waves and floods) which compromises Veebolt’s data protection measures;
  4. war, hostilities (whether war be declared or not), invasion, act of foreign enemies, mobilisation, requisition, or embargo;
  5. rebellion, revolution, insurrection, or military or usurped power, or civil war which compromises Veebolt’s data protection measures;
  6. the transfer of your personal data to a third party on your instructions; and
  7. the use of your personal data by a third party designated by you.

 

10.         COOKIES AND OTHER TECHNOLOGIES 

When you visit our platform, we may assign your device one or more cookies or other technologies that facilitate personalization to facilitate access to our platform and to personalize your experience. Through the use of a cookie, we also may automatically collect information about your activity on our platform, such as the pages you visit, the time and date of your visits and the links you click. If we advertise, we (or third parties) may use certain data collected on our platform to show you our advertisements on other sites or applications.

Our platform may contain links to other websites owned and operated by third parties. These links are provided for your information and convenience only and are not an endorsement by Veebolt of the content of such linked websites or third parties. The information that we collect from you may become available to these websites if you click the link to the websites.

These linked websites are neither under our control nor our responsibility.  Veebolt, therefore, makes no warranties or representations, express or implied, about the safety of such linked websites, the third parties they are owned and operated by and the suitability or quality of information contained on them. 

This Privacy Policy does not apply to these websites and we cannot guarantee the safety and privacy of your information. If you decide to access these linked third-party websites and/or make use of the information contained on them, you do so entirely at your own risk. Veebolt accepts no liability for any damage or loss, however caused, in connection with accessing, the use of or reliance on any information, material, products or services contained on or accessed through any such linked website.
